    God Never Stops

Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. (Phil. 1:6, NIV)
God made you into a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17) when you entrusted your life to our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ.  But God never stops working in your life.  He will continue to mold you into the image of Christ (Rom. 8:29).  Our Scripture verse today may be the greatest promise to you who have trusted in the LORD Jesus Christ.  God has promised to finish the good work of salvation He started when you first believed.

If today you feel like you are at a low point spiritually, be encouraged that God never gives up on you!  And God never stops working in your life!  God is the One who began the work and He is the Faithful One to complete it.

How does this promise affect your fellowship with other believers?

    1. You should expect God to develop your brothers and sisters into the image of Christ.

Some people may seem to mature faster than others.  Do not worry about that.  Just remember that people CAN change with God's help.  Christians all too often give up on people long before God has had time to complete His good work.  Many a church split has occurred by such impatient believers.

God has promised to help your brothers and sisters become all that He wants them to be in Christ.  You know that God will be faithful to the very end.  So relate to your brothers and sisters with an attitude of joyful expectation.  Be confident that God is at work in their lives.

    2. Encourage your brothers and sisters in their growth.

Whatever steps of faith you see in their life, however small they are, praise them.  Let them know of your confidence in what God is doing.  Thank God for the growth that you see in them.  Pray that God would grant them great faith to overcome all the difficulties of life.  This is so important because Jesus told us a key principle of spiritual growth:

For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. (Matthew 25:29, NIV)

Your personal involvement is required.  Commit yourself to helping your brothers and sisters in their spiritual growth.  You see, everyone has something to share with others about God.  Every believer has learned many things about how God has worked in his or her life.  So share those things with one another.

Encourage your church family with faith in the work that God has done, is doing, and will continue to do.  You will grow spiritually yourself as you affirm your confidence in God's work.  Your fellowship with other believers will grow exponentially as you related to them with expectation and encouragement.

Having put this into practice, you will one day pause with amazement as you look back on the tremendous good work our LORD has done in your life and the lives of your church family.  Praise be to the faithful LORD God who never stops!
